Climate Action

Call for urgent action on the climate emergency

Call on City Council to act urgently to reduce carbon emissions and protect our community from climate impacts.

Show up for climate action Feb. 27

Come hear the City’s update on climate action and show your support for acting on the climate emergency, at the Tuesday, Feb. 27 Council meeting, starting 6pm in Council Chambers (Tom Davies Square).

In this winter that is not a true winter, after 2023 temperatures that smashed global records, after a year where over 200,000 Canadian were under evacuation orders from climate disasters like wildfires and flooding, show up for urgent action on the climate emergency.  Be there Feb. 27 and invite your friends and family.

In 2019, Council unanimously declared a climate emergency and committed to achieving net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2050.  Over 300 people of all ages came to see Council unanimously commit to act.   Now we need to show up again to remind them of that commitment and let them know we are counting on their climate leadership.
