From Curious to Candidate - Running for Council

Want to make a difference in your community? Could you be a community leader at City Hall?  Are you thinking of running for Council?  Interested in exploring the possibility?  Just want to know more about how it works? Your City Your Voice can connect you to information, resources, and like-minded people to demystify and support you in becoming a candidate for councillor or mayor in Greater Sudbury.  Your City Your Voice is open to all. We especially encourage Black, Indigenous, racialized, 2SLGBTQ+, women, gender diverse, and young people to participate. 

Learn what it takes to run for City Council in the October 2026 municipal election! Join us on Thursday, June 4, from 5:30 to 7:30 pm at the Downtown Library (74 Mackenzie St) for a free workshop covering the role, election process, and how to take your first steps as a candidate. Registration is encouraged.

Nominations are now open, and you can put in your name to run for Council up to August 21. 

Your City Your Voice is a collaborative community effort by Black Lives Matter Sudbury, Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury, Myths and Mirrors Community Arts, Fierté Sudbury Pride, and Politics NOW.

Your voice matters - inform your vote

Voting begins October 16, and the municipal election is October 26, 2026.
