Meet your plant neighbours

Workshops, workbees and neighbourhood walks

Pick up your own goldenrod plant ID card at the Climate Justice Corner, at the main library.

Sat, Sept. 30, 2pm: The Honourable Harvest: Workshop on respectful harvesting and use of wild plants, workbee, and reflection at Manidoo Bineshii Dreams. Connect to wild plants, contribute to this collective arts and food sovereignty space based in Atikamekasheng Anishnawbek, and reflect on the Calls to Action on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation.

Neighbourhood plant ID walks: Come discover a lesser known trail and meet some of the plants that live there.  Do some guerilla gardening with seed bombs with native wildflower seeds, and discover plant markers with repurposed materials, for 5 native plant species.

  • Wed, Oct. 4, 5pm: Neighbourhood plant ID walk in the Valley. Meet at the informal  trail head on Francis Street (Hanmer), at the intersection of Guy Avenue.
  • Sat, Oct. 14, 11am: Neighbourhood plant ID walk in New Sudbury. Meet just after the last house on the left side of Montrose Ave, a little past Forestdale Drive.
