The Drinking Water Source Protection Program

The Drinking Water Source Protection Program works to prevent the contamination of our municipal drinking water sources in the Greater Sudbury area including Ramsey Lake, the Vermilion River, the Wahnapitae River and 24 municipal wells.

The Plan was approved by the Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change in September 2014 and has been in effect since April 1, 2015.

Greater Sudbury Watershed Alliance

Greater Sudbury Watershed Alliance is an independent, grassroots; collaborative partnership of the lake, river and creek stewardship committees of Greater Sudbury and other concerned citizens working together to promote and advocate for a healthy watershed.

Junction Creek Stewardship Committee

Junction Creek Stewardship Committee is a not-for-profit, grassroots group guided by a volunteer board, whose main focus is the restoration of Junction Creek.

Lake Stewardship Committees

Lake Stewardship Committees are volunteer resident groups focused on stewardship of their lake or waterway, associated with the City of Greater Sudbury.

The Lakes (Watershed) Advisory Panel is an Advisory Panel to Council on watershed health and lake water quality.

Ontario Rivers Alliance

Ontario Rivers Alliance (ORA) is a Not-for-Profit grassroots organization with a focus on healthy river ecosystems all across Ontario.  ORA is a voice for a number of member organizations such as the French River Delta Association, CPAWS-Ottawa Valley, Kiishik Community Association, Food & Water First, Whitewater Ontario, Vermilion River Stewardship, Mississippi Riverwatchers, French River Stewardship, as well as many other stewardships, associations, and private and First Nations citizens. We have come together to protect, conserve and restore healthy river ecosystems all across Ontario, and to ensure that development affecting Ontario rivers is environmentally and socially sustainable.

ORA is concerned with all issues affecting Ontario rivers and their connecting wetlands, creeks, springs, lakes and their shorelines, habitat, fisheries, and the biodiversity of aquatic life within a watershed.
