ABOUT US

The Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury was founded in 2006 around the principles of environmental sustainability and meaningful citizen engagement in municipal planning.

We connect:  citizens to decisions that affect them; information and ideas to people who make a difference, vision to reality in the ‘nuts and bolts’ of municipal policies.

We are working towards environmental, social and economic sustainability in the City of Greater Sudbury, through a Smart Growth model.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury is a grass-roots community group working towards Smart Growth in the City of Greater Sudbury.

Specifically, it aims to:

·        Work with the City of Greater Sudbury towards solutions that facilitate and support Smart Growth, with a particular emphasis on environmental stewardship and meaningful citizen engagement.

·        Research Smart Growth and Sustainable Development, make recommendations to meet Smart Growth objectives at the municipal level, and make this information, as well as relevant local reports, available to citizens, community groups and the City of Greater Sudbury.

·        Act as a network of like-minded community groups and citizens.

The Coalition for a Liveable Sudbury believes that a Smart Growth model will benefit the environment, human health, quality of life, and enhance community engagement.
